Episode 2 picks up with Tanjiro asking a local farmer if he can take an unused basket as well as bamboo from his farm, which he plans to use to create a basket so that he can move with Nezuko during the day as well. The man agrees and Tanjiro offers to pay him for it, refusing to take it for free even when told he doesn’t have to pay. Again we see that Tanjiro is kind and honorable to a fault. Tanjiro is a gift, he is my adoptive son, I’ve claimed him.
Tanjiro makes and uses the basket, but lets Nezuko out to walk around after sundown and the pair stop at a temple, only to find that the humans inside have been eaten by a demon. Tanjiro battles the demon but is unable to destroy it before daybreak. As a result, he learns why he was told not to allow Nezuko to be exposed to sunlight. (I’d be hiding too)
This is also where we meet Urokodaki, who is also a gift, I won’t spoil how much of a gift he is or why, just trust me that he’s a gift and watch for yourself. There’s a lot of great moments in this episode.
