In this episode, the girls are asked to rescue a young woman from being trapped by an incredibly jealous mountain god. When they arrive, they soon find out that he was the cause of the forest fire that separated Towa and Setsuna 10 years earlier.
This episode had a lot of good moments in it, but I don’t really like the ending. It really would have been much more satisfying to see Towa defeat Homura like she wanted. That could have been a good opportunity to revisit the issue of how much Setsuna actually remembers since there were hints in episode 10 that her memories aren’t actually missing so much as hidden or obscured. At the time, I don’t think Setsuna as a character was ready to be open about that, but this episode might have been the right time. It was one of a few missed opportunities in my opinion, but it’s still a solid episode with good character work, good humor, and a pretty great fight.
